Can I cancel or reschedule an exam once it’s already been booked?

Test takers who wish to cancel or reschedule their testing appointment must contact Prov at least three (3) business days prior to the scheduled test date. Rescheduling is free if Prov is notified by the deadline. However, those who fail to appear for their test without cancelling or rescheduling before the deadline will forfeit their exam fees.

Where can I confirm my scheduled test date and time?

When you schedule an exam, Prov will send a confirmation letter via email with the details of your scheduled test event. (Don’t forget to check your spam folders!)

Test-takers can also confirm their scheduled test time online through the Prov Scheduler. To do so, visit the Schedule a Test page on the Prov website, log in, and review your scheduled test time.

Testing & Results

Where can I take my exam?

Most Licensing and Certifying Jurisdictions allow their customers to take exams either in-person or online. However, some exams may have limitations based on their specific requirements (practical examinations that require in-person observation, etc.)

During the registration process, test takers will only be offered only those options and test sites that are permitted for their exams. For information on where you can take your specific test, download your Candidate Information Bulletin.

What can I expect on test day?

The Prov team is dedicated to ensuring a positive testing experience. When test day arrives, each test-taker will walk through the following steps:

  1. The test taker will log in through Prov using the credentials provided in their email confirmation letter.
  2. Once logged in, they will be greeted by an ExamRoom.ai onboarding agent who will check the customer in and get them set up for testing. The test taker will be asked to provide a government-issued photo ID and show any textbooks or reference materials they plan to use on their test.

NOTE: The test time will not officially begin until after check-in and registration are complete. Don’t stress if it takes a few extra minutes to set up!

3. Once the check-in process is complete, the onboarding agent will transfer the test-taker to an ExamRoom.ai proctor who will officially start the test.

4. Once the exam is complete, results will be delivered via email or directly through your testing organization. Download your Candidate Information Bulletin (CIB) for specific info on how your test scores will be delivered.

NOTE: Should you run into any technical difficulties while you test, we have a free technical support team standing by ready to help!

  • Driver’s license
  • Passport
  • Military ID

Student ID cards will NOT be accepted. Temporary IDs are not valid.

Where can I view my scores? When will the Board be notified?

For most Licensing and Certifying Jurisdictions, scores will be calculated and provided immediately following the exam. If testing in person, test-takers can receive their scores right at the testing center. If testing online, scores will be delivered via email soon after the exam completes.

NOTE: There are a few licensing organizations that are an exception to this rule, who prefer to deliver results to their test-takers directly. For information on what you can expect on your specific exams, review your Candidate Information Bulletin (CIB) on the Test Information page.

How many times can I retake my exam? When can I retest?

Retake policies vary by Licensing or Certifying Jurisdiction. Information on your test’s specific retake policy can be found in your Candidate Information Bulletin. Download yours today through our Test Information page.

Can I review the questions I missed on my exam?

Most Licensing and Certifying Jurisdictions allow a Test Review. To be eligible for a review, candidates must score within 10% of the required passing score. For information on your test’s specific review policy, download your Candidate Information Bulletin from our Test Information page.

What do I do if I have a question or concern about my test?

If you find yourself confused or concerned about any part of your examination, we recommend one of the following actions:

  • Review your Candidate Bulletin. This document contains all of the rules and guidelines for your specific exams and can be a test-takers most valuable educational tool. Download yours on the Test Information page.
  • Leave comments throughout your exam. Test takers will have the option to leave comments on any question they feel is inaccurate or otherwise incorrect. What is ExamRoom.ai?

ExamRoom.ai™ is a secure online proctoring system included with every online Prov exam. This remote monitoring service allows test-takers to take exams from any location, receive guided onboarding and tech support, and even chat directly with proctors.

These services come at no additional cost, require no additional registration, and begin the minute the test-taker starts their exam.

To use ExamRoom.ai™, simply schedule your exam through the Prov Scheduler and check your email for further instructions on how to log in on test day.

Do I need a special type of computer or internet connection to test online?

Prov and ExamRoom.ai are designed to work on a wide range of computer systems and browsers. However, there are specific system requirements and settings that may be required before testing.

ExamRoom.ai offers an online system compatibility check to help test-takers see if their computer system is eligible for testing. We recommend doing this system check prior to the test day to ensure the computer meets the minimum testing requirements. Most systems will just require just a few small adjustments.

Access the systems compatibility check here: https://examroom.ai/systemtest/

Note: When prompted “Permission for ExamRoom to access camera and microphone,” you must click “Allow.”

Do I need a webcam to take my online exams?

Yes. Our remote proctoring software utilizes cameras for face-to-face monitoring on test day. During the check-in process, test-takers will be connected via webcam before testing begins.

How do I make sure my computer is set up and ready for testing?

Prov offers a pre-test system compatibility check to help test-takers set up their computers for testing. This check will ensure that the proper settings and internet speed are available, and help speed up the check-in process on test day.

We recommend doing this system check prior to the test day to ensure the computer meets the minimum testing requirements. Most systems will just require just a few small adjustments.

Access the systems compatibility check here: https://examroom.ai/systemtest/

Note: When prompted “Permission for ExamRoom to access camera and microphone”, you must click “Allow”.

When does my test time officially begin?

Testing time will not begin until after you are checked in, connected with your proctor, and officially click “Start Exam.” If your check-in process takes a little longer than planned, don’t worry! You will still have your full test time available once testing begins.

What happens if my computer or internet fails during my online test?

Don’t worry! Your test will be paused and all of your test answers will be saved.  If your computer freezes, shuts down, or will not move to the next question, notify your proctor when your connection is restored and they will be able to resume your exam where you left off. Most test interruptions are brief and can be resolved fairly quickly.

However, for more serious system failures (the test taker is disconnected for an extended period of time, computer won’t turn on, etc.), the exam may need to be rescheduled and restarted on a later date.
